So today dawns the first day of our weekend, It marks the day of sport for both families and the extra early starts so we can watch our children play sport, Nice brisk Frosty Tuapeka Morning saw the Crew out early to move the cows, Sheep etc so they could go and watch the boys playing rugby. We also had a bit of destruction today with the end of an era for one of our sheds at our Garage. This had made a great improvement to things over at the garage and it looks great, Now what will they do with the space lol.

We left our story yesterday with how we continue on with our operations. Winter sees us at a very point in the life of the farm and Nathan and Tony Manage the Dairy grazing operation of 2700 cows roughly this season, It is a busy time but is a limiting time frame, They have 22 mobs of cows from 7 different operations, We have had a rather interesting time with M bovis rearing it's ugly head in New Zealand, This has meant a bit more work around here to keep mobs out of the way of others and have everything disinfected etc at all times, Unfortunately not a great time but we hope it can be resolved.

We feed a combination of Fodderbeet, Baleage & Rye grass straw, or they get Kale, Baleage and Straw. Lucky for the cows swede are reserved for the sheep and our households lol. We feed according to our past practices and what the cows show us they need or don't need. Love the transition period means a lot of living with animals for the first month or so.During this time we also put our sheep and cattle onto crop, This helps them over winter and allows us to save our paddocks for growth in the early spring.

Right, As I am just home from Rugby in Alexandra, I must go and wash jerseys and sort the kids out,
